What is a free T3 test?

This is a test that measures free T3 in the blood. T3 is a hormone made by a gland situated in the throat called the thyroid gland. T3 is found in two forms I.e., bound which attaches to proteins and free form which does not get bound to anything. So, the test measuring both free and bound T3 is known as the total T3 test whereas the test measuring free T3 is called the free T3 test.
