A 28 years old female with (Identification no.21777) visited our clinic with her mother for her problem of Anorexia Nervosa.
Her mother told us that her daughter was once 68 kg but now her weight decreased to 42kg and she is still continued to reduce her weight which caused much weakness to her. With this decreased weight, she had poor appetite. She took no food even if it was attempted to force-feed her.
Patient told us that her complaints started when she was 24 years old and her parents was in search of groom for her but she got refusal and rejection. Repeatedly rejection made her feel worthless and ugly and she also had inferiority complex. She started feeling depressed.
This episode gave her a shock and she decided to reduce her weight and try to maintain her body shape like a slim girl. She started dieting, starved herself for long hours, started to skip her meals and took water only.
She joined gym and exercise for extra hours to reduce her weight. Even now, when she reached to 42 kgs, her mind was still fixed on a point that she was a fat girl and she had to reduce her weight further.
