    What do we know about Tetanus?

    Tetanus is an infectious disease which is caused by wound contamination from Clostridium tetani bacteria. It is mainly caused by wounds and contusions. The wound becomes contaminated with bacterial spores, that activated and develop into gram-positive bacteria which multiply and produce tetanospasmin that affects the muscles.

    Do everyone has the same ratio of tetanus infection?

    Elderly people have more ration of being affected by tetanus or tetanus may affect individuals of any age and sex.

    Tetanus is divided into how many types?

    It is divided into:

    Generalized tetanus

    It affects all skeletal muscles and most common as well as the most severe form of tetanus.

    Local tetanus

    Cephalic tetanus

    It affects one or several muscles of the face immediately after a head injury or ear infection. Trismus may occur.
