    What is Osteopenia?

    Osteopenia is defined as a weakening of bones, having lower BMD ( bone mineral density ) than normal characterized by a decrease in the amount of bone calcium and phosphorus which causes bones to be weak and brittle, with an increased risk of fracture. A lack of vitamin D may also lead to osteopenia in infants.
