    What do we know about Abscess?

    An abscess is a cavity containing pus which is surrounded by inflamed tissue, due to localized infection which enters the skin through injury causes red, tender and swollen skin.

    A causative bacterium of an abscess is Staphylococcus aureus.

    It is of 6 types:

    Furuncles / Carbuncles:

    It causes fever and abscess occur within the hair follicle.

    Pilonidal Cyst

    It occurs in the crease of the buttocks. Pilonidal cysts begin as areas of skin infection from which hair grows.

    It surrounds the anal canal and is responsible for the rectal abscess.

    Lung abscess

    It is the necrosis of pulmonary parenchyma which is caused by microbial infection, it is of two types-

    Breast abscess

    it is defined as a localized breast infection.
